Free Baggage

Passengers may carry free of charge baggage as specified and subject to the conditions and limitations in THAI Regulations.

The weight allowance has been introduced by THAI for a journey:

– Wholly within Thailand Domestic sectors

– A journey within TC3 (Asia, Australia, New Zealand) and a journey between TC2 (Europe, Africa, Middle East) and TC3 (Asia, Australia, New Zealand)

The Piece Concept used to apply for a journey:

– To / From the USA and Canada

Note:
1. When a passenger is involuntarily rerouted to a lower class of service, the higher class baggage allowance shall be applied even though the refund for the fare difference is made.
2. The exemption from extra baggage shall be applied to any passengers who traveling on the conditions agreed by THAI and Government sector. The exemption shall be applied according to the condition on the passenger’s ticket only. By government order or agreement, certain passenger categories may have a free baggage allowance deviating from the regular system. Such amended free baggage allowance is stated in the passenger’s ticket.
3. The condition on the 2nd note is applicable to passengers traveling from Thailand only. For other areas/countries, follow the rules applied by the national carriers concerned.
4. In case of travel on combined services for through journeys where the passenger travels partly on F-class and partly on C-, U-, or Y-class, the free baggage allowance applicable on each sector of the trip shall be that applicable to the class of service for which the fare is paid. In case the passenger who has paid F-class fare travels on C-, U- or Y-class, the free baggage allowance shall be that applicable to F-class.
5. Foldable stroller can be loaded in compartment without additional charge.

Basic Regulations:

– Royal First Class and Royal Silk Class passengers receive a free baggage allowance of two pieces. The weight of each piece shall not exceed 32 kgs (70 lbs) and linear measurement (length + width + height) shall not exceed 158 cms (62 inches).
– Passengers traveling on economy class are given a free baggage allowance of two pieces. The weight of each item shall not exceed 23 kgs (50 lbs) and linear measurement of each piece shall not exceed 158 linear cms (62 inches).
– Royal Orchid Plus (ROP) Gold Card members and Royal Orchid Platinum members will enjoy the privilege of one extra baggage on top of the regular allowance in any class of travel. The applicable privilege will be utilized along with the frequent flyer status to only those tickets that are wholly online or involved interline transportation with other carriers who agreed to the applicable of the bonus.

Important Notice:

If your journey involves multiple airline partners, please be aware that baggage rules may vary. In case of code-share flights that include a point in the United States/US Territories, the carrier performing as the marketing carrier determines the baggage rule. In some cases, the baggage rules that apply for your journey may be those of our partner airlines, please contact your travel agent or our ticketing/reservation agent for further advice.

Carry on Baggage

Carry-on Baggage

In addition to the checked baggage allowance, Star Alliance Gold Status customers, travelling in Business or First Class and have a journey involving two or more Star Alliance carriers, are entitled to bring two pieces of carry-on baggage (where aircraft restrictions and local regulations permit). Other passenger is allowed to hand carry one baggage at maximum length 56 cm (22 inches), width 45 cm (18 inches), thickness 25 cm (10 inches). These dimensions include wheels, handles, and side pockets. Total weight of the carry-on baggage must not exceed seven kg (15 lb).Passengers are required to place the baggage in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front of them.
Passengers can bring the following items free of charge:
1. Handbag/wallet/purse with the maximum length 37.5 cm (15 inches), width 25 cm (10 inches), depth 12.5 cm (5 inches), or the total of three dimensions do not exceed 75 cm (30 inches) with the total weight not exceeding 1.5kgs(3.3lb). Notebooks, or portable personal computers are also applied with this condition.
2. Walking sticks (crutches) used by elderly passengers, sick passengers, and handicapped passengers

Note: 

Spot check may be performed against the test unit and/or weighing machine at the check-in counter and/or at the boarding gate to ensure compliance to these regulations.

Aftermarket Travel Gadgets

Other than equipment installed or supplied on the aircraft by THAI, passengers own equipment/devices/travel gadgets such as personal air purifier/ionizers, seat-recline preventer, knee defender, inflight beds e.g. Bed Box ,Jet Kids, Fly Baby, leg-rests, hammocks, infant canopies or similar devices are not allowed to use onboard due to :
1. It may cause unsafe condition to the occupant and/or other passengers in the event of emergency.
2. It may damage, obstruct or cause malfunction to aircraft system and/or aircraft equipment.
3. It may cause disturbance to the adjacent passengers.

Measure Restricted : liquid, aerosol and gel

All liquids, aerosols, and gels in carry-on baggage must be carried in containers with a capacity not greater than 100ml.
 –  Liquids carried in containers larger than 100ml. are not accepted, even if the container is only partially filled.
 –  Containers must be placed in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag with a maximum capacity of one litter.
 –  The plastic bag must be presented for visual examination at the screening point.
 –  Only one transparent re-sealable plastic bag per passenger may be permitted.
 –  Exemptions may be made for medications, baby milk/foods and passengers with special dietary    requirements.
 –  The plastic bag must be presented separately from other cabin baggage at screening checkpoint.
 –  Items purchased either at airport duty free shops or on board aircraft must be packed in a sealed plastic bag, and not have been opened. Passengers may be required to display a satisfactory proof of purchase.

Your Cabin Baggage

Lifting an overweight/oversized carry-on baggage to stow in an overhead locker, passengers may suffer muscle aches/pain. During turbulence, oversized/overweight baggage may fall on you or other passengers and cause injury. In case of emergency, it may also block the emergency exit routes and pose danger. For the sake of safety, every passenger is allowed one hand-carry baggage not over 7 kg or 45 linear inches (around 115 cm)to be taken on board, and properly stowed in a closed overhead bin.

Excess Baggage Charges applicable to Purely Domestic Sectors

All excess baggage must be assessed and charged before the passenger boards the aircraft.
Baggage checked in addition to the traveler’s baggage allowance. Checked baggage allowance may vary depending on cabin, status level, military status, itinerary and date of purchase.
Baggage carried in excess of the free baggage allowance is charged as follows, irrespective of the class paid for and used by the passenger.
